Over the past couple of days I have had another opportunity to visit the Qantas First Class lounges in both Sydney and Melbourne. As I have come to expect, both visits were spectacular. I just love these lounges and I think they are both definitely in the top 5 lounges on Earth! What makes them especially great is the terrific restaurant and great wine list. Here is a taste of whats on offer:
SYDNEY FIRST LOUNGE - LUNCH
|
Bollinger Champagne and San Pellegrino Water |
|
a classic - Salt and Pepper Squid |
|
Prosciutto wrapped chicken breast with polenta - side of rocket and parmesan salad |
|
Pear and Hazelnut Mille Feuille |
The meal was pretty much delicious all round with the squid and the dessert the highlights. The chicken was a little dry and the polenta lacked flavour but it was still pretty good. The ambiance and views across the tarmac towards Sydney are fabulous for plane spotters like myself. I drank Bollinger champagne during the meal which was topped up regularly and finished with a glass of the delicious De Bortoli Noble One Botrytis Semillon. Other champagnes available were Veuve, Taittinger and Delamotte.
MELBOURNE FIRST LOUNGE - BREAKFAST
I arrived at the Melbourne lounge during the breakfast service and was immediately seated and offered a drink. As a champagne lover I selected a glass of Taittinger, also available were Veuve and Delamotte (Bollinger did not feature on the Melbourne menu).
Service at the Melbourne lounge was superior to Sydney, generally more attentive and staff were more cheerful. I just used my phone to take a couple of snaps of the meal service so excuse the low quality:
|
Bircher Muesli |
|
Eggs Benedict with Hash Brown |
The bircher was absolutely delicious, really hit the spot! The eggs benedict were also great, the quality of the ingredients was very high with delicious ham and an amazing hash brown which possible had some sort of cheese inside it. I finished off with a lovely cappuccino.
Overall two fabulous experiences in two of my favourite lounges. Keep up the good work Qantas.
I agree the qantas first class lounge is simply the best!
ReplyDeleteWell actually the qantas club is pretty good
Great job qantas!!
And thanks for the review!!
That proscuitto-wrapped chicken breast looks suspiciously like salmon to me :)
ReplyDeleteit sure does, I guess the pink proscuitto gave it that appearance. It's definitely chicken inside, I don't eat much salmon, not a fan. There was a kind of pesto type stuffing inside it too.
